Henry J. and Alyce Kaiser Estate
Built in the 1950’s, the Henry J. and Alyce Kaiser Estate is one of Hawaii’s treasured, registered historic landmarks. The sprawling one-story residence was designed in the International Style, revealing the influence of Mies van der Rohe. A massive restoration and remodel was commissioned to bring the property up to date for modern living. The large horizontal stone slabs and vertical silver travertine walls were restored to the elegance that was Mies van der Rohe’s signature style.
In addition to the restoration, custom stone installation techniques were used for the 70-pound, 3-foot stone squares. These large squares are important elements in the design of the remodeling project.
